Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque is seeking a Jail & Prison Reentry Coordinator based in our Waterloo office.
Job Title: Jail & Prison Reentry Coordinator
Responsible to: Program Manager
Location: Western Coordinator (Waterloo, Iowa office, also serves Marshalltown, Iowa & Mason City, Iowa)
Job Summary: The mission of our Jail & Prison Reentry Services is to reduce recidivism
utilizing principles of restorative justice and developing strong systems of support by matching formerly incarcerated individuals with volunteer mentors. The Reentry Coordinator provides both long-term and short-term case management by identifying clients' needs and assisting them in reaching their goals for housing, employment, transportation, and financial stability. This position works collaboratively with community organizations and parishes to build and maintain partnerships. Responsibilities also include recruiting volunteers, providing training for volunteers assigned as mentors and members of Circles of Support, and ongoing coordination and recognition for volunteers. This position requires travel throughout the Archdiocese, along with some evening and weekend meetings.

Job Responsibilities:
Client Services
● Adhere to the intake procedures for Reentry clients and complete documentation for each
client's file as needed
● Maintain the client database system and prepare reports and statistics; keep current data
and track outcomes as assigned by the Outreach Director
● Be knowledgeable of community resources to be able to refer clients to fill basic needs
and assist them in reaching their goals
● Provide ongoing support to clients with a strengths-based case management model
● Participate in professional development opportunities
● Coordinate with the Catholic Charities’ case manager as well as other divisions for
services needed to help the client
Volunteer Management
● Recruit and screen volunteers for the program
● Provide supervision and program training for volunteer area coordinators, mentors, and
members of Circles of Support and Accountability
● Ensure volunteer assignments, roles, and responsibilities are clear, concise, and descriptive
● Exercise independent judgment in planning and coordinating program operations
● Determine priorities for program activities and volunteer assignments
● Provide ongoing educational training opportunities
● Coordinate formal and informal volunteer appreciation events
● Maintain appropriate risk management policies and procedures for volunteer management to maintain insurance and liability standards
● Maintain current and accurate volunteer documentation
● Coordinate with lead volunteer coordinators on the status of the program/volunteers
Community Relations
● Actively participate in community partnership meetings/events/groups to promote the
program and coordinate with other groups, such as local Drug Court teams, Department of
Corrections, Residential facilities, and substance abuse agencies.
● Provide regular informational meetings and presentations with parishes and other
community organizations to serve as Catholic Charities’ brand ambassador
● Promote and communicate the Archdiocesan vision and mission of Jail & Prison Reentry,
as well as the principles of Restorative Justice
● Work with the Public Relations Director to share both client and volunteer success stories
Qualifications:
● A Bachelor’s Degree in the human services field or related field preferred, or equivalent
experience in social work, criminal justice, or volunteer management
● Knowledgeable of the Iowa State Correctional System and a passion for the principles of
restorative justice preferred. Must be confidential in all matters.
● Possesses administrative, leadership, and strong communication skills
● Possesses strong computer skills and experience with database systems is preferred
● Has reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Business-related travel will be
reimbursed.
● Possess a dedication to advancing the mission and strategic plan of Catholic Charities
and an understanding of the scope of services Catholic Charities provides, and an ability
to effectively communicate this to stakeholders (i.e., clients, residents, community
partners, parishes, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Administrative skills in the areas of planning, organizing, implementing, relationship
building, and evaluating program services
● Competent listening skills, ability to manage conflict, and support clients in a
non-judgmental manner
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, volunteers,
staff, community agencies, and the general public
● Knowledge of advocacy work and styles to implement social justice networks
● Ability to work within a team framework
● Multicultural awareness and competency to effectively work with culturally diverse
communities
● Demonstrate professional ethics and social work boundaries
