THE POSITION: Janitor

The Janitor performs upkeep tasks such as basic repairs. The incumbent will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional. Works under moderate supervision. Working as a Janitor typically requires 1+ years of related experience within the organization.

Essential Job Functions of the position may include:

• Cleans and maintains buildings, facilities, and equipment.
• Uses cleaning tools and other products to create a clean, healthy environment.
• Removes and disposes trash, recycling, and other waste following the appropriate policies.
• Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
• Install appliances and equipment.
• Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
• Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues.
• Report defective materials or questionable conditions immediately. Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Provide training to other technicians in various disciplines as needed.
• Train subordinate employees on job skills and Company policies and procedures.
• Actively contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts and projects.
• Communicate constantly with supervisor regarding issues that may come up at work.
• Communicates any problems which arise to the supervisor.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
• May have basic maintenance skills.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Having a high level of troubleshooting knowhow.
• Detail oriented.
• Able to use ladders and/or scissor lifts.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English language skills are required, Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible and/or extended/Saturday hours depending on demand.
• Ability to climb and move around machinery.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds. May team-lift 50+ lbs. Work in a safe manner especially when lifting.
• Must be honest, have a positive attitude, be respectful, dependable, have a good attitude and a proven record of reliability (2+ years at previous jobs). Ability to understand written work direction.
• Requires 2+ years of general work experience.
