Position Summary
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the manufacturing facility. This role supports day-to-day operations by ensuring production areas, offices, restrooms, and common spaces remain clean, organized, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in production areas, hallways, and offices.
- Operate floor buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing equipment to maintain floor surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, and high-touch surfaces.
- Empty and dispose of trash, recycling, and industrial waste in designated containers.
- Clean around production machinery and equipment following safety guidelines.
- Remove debris, scrap materials, and packaging waste from the production floor.
- Maintain cleanliness in loading docks, warehouse aisles, and storage areas.
- Follow all company sanitation procedures (including GMPs when applicable).
- Maintain proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Complete sanitation logs and documentation as required.
- Refill supplies such as paper towels, soap, and PPE stations.
- Report maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Assist with simple building upkeep tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial, custodial, or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
- Experience with floor machines, including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment.
- Understanding of basic safety rules; familiarity with OSHA or GMP standards is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Work Environment
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including noise, moving equipment, and variable temperatures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- May require evening, night, or weekend shifts depending on facility needs.
