Janitor / Veterinary Cleaning

Overview
Primary Care Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Janitor / Cleaning Technician to help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for our patients, clients, and team. This role is essential to hospital operations and goes beyond typical janitorial work—it includes working in a medical setting with animals.

Responsibilities

Daily Cleaning & Sanitation

• Clean and disinfect: Exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites (using proper protocols). Lobby, reception, offices, and break room, Restrooms (toilets, sinks, floors, mirrors, and restocking supplies)
• Wipe and disinfect high-touch surfaces (door handles, light switches, counters)
• Clean glass and interior windows
• Empty trash, replace liners, and transport waste to designated areas
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors using proper cleaning techniques

Veterinary-Specific Duties

• Clean and disinfect animal cages and kennels
• Handle laundry (towels, blankets, bedding)
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness in treatment and surgery areas
• Follow strict sanitation protocols to prevent cross-contamination

Weekly / Periodic Tasks

• Take out recycling and waste bins (including outdoor bins)
• Clean exterior areas (front entrance, concrete)
• Perform deeper dusting (vents, baseboards, corners)
• Clean appliances (microwave, refrigerator exterior)
• Maintain janitorial closet and supplies

Closing Duties

• Ensure facility is clean and organized at end of shift
• Turn off lights, secure doors/windows, and set alarms as instructed

What We’re Looking For

• Reliable and consistent attendance (this role is critical to daily operations)
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards
• Comfortable working around dogs and cats
• Able to follow protocols in a medical environment
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Prior janitorial or veterinary experience is a plus (not required)

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
