Janitorial & Facilities Assistant

We are looking for a Janitorial and Facilities Assistant to join our growing organization!

General Position Summary

This role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning distribution center. This role primarily focuses on janitorial services while also serving as the on-site liaison for safety initiatives, vendor access, and general facility oversight. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of identifying and addressing facility needs before they become issues.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

      • Perform daily janitorial and housekeeping duties
      • Conduct routine facility and safety inspections
      • Coordinate vendor access and oversee contracted services
      • Report and track facility maintenance issues
      • Restock supplies and maintain inventory levels
      • Complete minor maintenance and repair tasks to support facility operations and appearance
      • Ability to obtain forklift certification
      • Onsite Safety Liaison

Specific Job Requirements

      • 1–3 years of janitorial, facilities, warehouse, or related experience preferred
      • Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety practices
      • Ability to identify facility, maintenance, and safety concerns and communicate them effectively
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
      • Proficient in basic computer applications such as email and Microsoft Office
      • Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety principles preferred

Education and Experience Requirements

      • High school diploma or equivalent required
      • Experience performing minor facility repairs and using common hand and power tools preferred
      • Demonstrated ability to perform custodial duties, basic facility repairs, and facility inspections
      • Experience supporting safety initiatives or facility operations preferred

  • Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items - The employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Requires the ability to move around and maneuver products when necessary. Often lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Due to forklifts and other heavy equipment traveling through the warehouse, temporary cracks may appear in the floor, causing an uneven walking surface
  • The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy
  • Doors near the department are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes
  • Floors around work area may become slippery during wet weather conditions
  • May have to handle merchandise and work with tools with sharp edges
  • Passing forklifts emit gas fumes
  • Tools, supplies, and related merchandise may contain hazardous materials
