Job Summary:
The Janitorial Lead at ABDM is responsible for leading the janitorial team to ensure that the large shipping and distribution warehouse operated by ABDM’s client is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This role combines hands-on cleaning tasks with supervisory responsibilities, including training staff, managing cleaning schedules, maintaining stock levels for supplies, and coordinating with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to meet ABDM's quality standards. The Janitorial Lead plays a critical role in creating a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment that supports overall warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead a team of janitorial staff, providing direction, guidance, and support to ensure effective and efficient cleaning operations.
- Train new janitorial team members in cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and equipment usage.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review cleaning goals, resolve challenges, and promote teamwork.
Cleaning Operations & Quality Control:
- Ensure that all areas of the facility, including restrooms, break rooms, high-traffic zones, and storage areas, are cleaned and maintained according to ABDM’s standards.
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met, promptly addressing any deficiencies.
- Implement and maintain cleaning schedules to accommodate the unique needs of a high-traffic warehouse environment without disrupting regular operations.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
- Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, monitoring stock levels and coordinating with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for timely reordering.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is in safe and proper working order; report any maintenance needs or equipment issues promptly.
- Manage proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment to comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols to ensure janitorial staff use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to OSHA guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety checks on cleaning supplies and equipment to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Participate in safety training sessions and encourage team members to stay updated on best practices for a safe working environment.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Collaborate closely with the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to address any specific cleaning requests, concerns, or adjustments needed within the facility.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and other facility users to maintain awareness of high-priority cleaning needs or special events.
- Provide feedback and reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor & Key Account Manager on cleaning activities, staffing, and supply needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent relevant experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in janitorial or cleaning services, preferably in a high-traffic or warehouse environment.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and equipment usage.
- Proven understanding of OSHA guidelines and safety practices related to cleaning and janitorial services.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and facility staff.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing needs, and manage time efficiently.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires on-site work at a single large shipping and distribution warehouse.
- Physical demands include frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting of cleaning equipment or supplies.
- Availability for early morning, evening, or weekend shifts as needed to meet facility cleaning schedules and supervisory duties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $23.50 per hour
