We are now seeking a seasoned, highly capable Janitorial Operations Manager, a strong leader who can elevate our operations, support our people, strengthen customer relationships, and bring structure to a fast-growing and complex service environment.
Position Overview
The Janitorial Operations Director will oversee the Mankato based janitorial operation, supervising roughly 65 to 80 cleaners, assistant managers, and team leads across 100 buildings within a 30–60-mile radius of Mankato.
This position requires a leadership-minded professional who is equally comfortable:

This is NOT an entry-level position. We need someone who is proven, organized, operationally strong, and capable of leading a large, diverse staff.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Oversee 65–80 janitorial staff members, many of whom work part-time at offsite locations
- Lead, coach, and develop assistant managers and team leads
- Hold teams accountable while maintaining empathy, patience, and servant leadership
- Support individuals with unique abilities and maintain a positive, inclusive culture
Operational Execution
- Direct nightly cleaning operations (4 PM–midnight peak hours) with additional morning/weekend activity (additional morning limited peak from 6am to 9am)
- Ensure all facilities meet and exceed service standards across hospitals, manufacturing plants, offices, banks, and specialty environments
- Create structure, processes, documentation, and systems to streamline operations
- Conduct regular inspections and field visits to maintain consistency across 100 locations
Customer & Client Management
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients
- Build strong relationships, ensure satisfaction, and quickly address service concerns
- Identify improvement opportunities and operate as a trusted advisor
- Ensure updated CRM and work orders
Administrative & Strategic Duties
- Workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Work with leadership on growth initiatives
- Participate in leadership meetings and organizational development
- Balance office responsibilities with high field visibility
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years leadership experience in janitorial, facilities, EVS (Environmental Services), property management, or similar operations
- Experience with shift work and high turnover environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams (50+ direct/indirect staff)
- Comfortable disciplining people and holding people accountable
- Experience managing managers and team leads, bonus points for scaling teams
- Experience managing field-based teams across multiple client sites
- Strong organizational, scheduling, communication, and systems-building ability
- High emotional intelligence; patient, consistent, encouraging
- Able to handle high-volume, fast-paced operations
- Comfortable working irregular hours (evenings/weekends as needed)
- Faith-aligned values (you do not need to be Christian, but must support a Golden Rule culture)
- Bonus: EVS Director or Healthcare Environmental Services experience
Schedule
- Office-based during daytime hours + expected field hours
- Majority of operations run 4 PM – 12 AM, with some morning and weekend oversight
- On-call or available 24 hours a day for customer or team member needs
- This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk job
