Overview
We are seeking a Japanese teacher to join our educational team on a part-time, temporary basis. This part-time position teaches an introductory Japanese language and culture course to middle-school students. The teacher will introduce basic vocabulary, phrases, and cultural topics in a supportive classroom setting. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys sharing Japanese language and culture at a beginner level and is comfortable working with students in an independent school environment.

Duties

  • Teach one section of Japanese to two cohorts of middle school students (one cohort in the third quarter and one cohort in the fourth quarter of semester 2).
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse students and learning styles
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to support student progress
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum quality and share best teaching practices
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assignments, and student achievements in accordance with institutional policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Japanese Language, or related field
  • Proven experience teaching Japanese in an educational setting
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet varied learner needs
  • Strong awareness of the roles and boundaries between teacher and student, and an ability to be a positive role model
  • Can be here physically, in-person, on-campus, no later than January 5, 2026

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Seasonal

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 9 per week
