John Glenn High School is seeking a Full-time Custodian for the second shift (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
The Custodian is a key member of our facilities team and plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and the community. This position is responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitation of assigned areas, as well as supporting school events and activities.
In addition to maintaining the facility, the Custodian serves as a positive presence in the building by demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and a strong commitment to customer service.
Cleaning & Maintenance

Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal

Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas

Maintain floors (scrubbing, refinishing, etc.) and clean windows, walls, and furniture

Ensure all areas are kept in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition in accordance with district and industry standards

Assist with seasonal duties such as snow removal, salting, and maintaining safe walkways
Event & Building Support

Set up and tear down for school events and community activities

Provide support during evening functions to ensure facilities are clean, safe, and ready for use

Work collaboratively with building administration to coordinate custodial needs for events
Safety & Security

Conduct routine inspections to identify and address safety concerns

Help maintain building security, including securing the facility as needed

Follow all safety procedures related to cleaning, equipment use, and lifting

Assist with emergency preparedness and response efforts

High school diploma or GED

Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Ability to lift, bend, twist, and perform physical tasks associated with the position
Preferred (Not Required)

Prior custodial or related experience
-
CDL with “P & S” endorsements - or willingness to obtain
The Custodian reports to the Head Custodian and Building Principal and is expected to follow all district policies, procedures, and applicable safety and OSHA standards.
