JOB OVERVIEW
Our Healthcare client in the Providence, RI area continues to expand their IT Build team and is currently looking for a talented and experienced Jira Developer. The position is 4-days on-site (Monday – Thursday), one day work-from-home (Friday’s). The candidate will start as a contractor and then transition to a full-time employee which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Administer and maintain Jira environments
· Configure workflows, permissions, and dashboards
· Support integrations and troubleshoot issues
Preferred Skills include:
· Strong experience with Jira administration
· Knowledge of Confluence and related Atlassian tools
· Familiarity with Agile methodologies
· Experience integrating Jira with other solutions such as Salesforce, Power BI
· Experience developing Jira Data Center Extensions using Java SDK
· Experience with JIRA Cloud Edition and experience migrating from Data Center to Cloud
This is a contract-to-hire position. The candidate will work 6-months as a 1099 consultant and then will transition into a full-time employee of our client. Local candidates are encouraged to apply and will work directly with the IT team at the corporate offices in the Providence, RI area.
Contract Compensation: $45 per hour on 1099 (this is non-negotiable)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The JIRA Developer works in the Build Team which comprises of all the Development work within the IT Department including Website Development, App Development, Database Development, Mapforce Development and Automation Development. The primary responsibility of the JIRA developer is to build projects in JIRA that supports various business areas in their everyday business. This would involve understanding the workflows and able to architect a project configuration that best suits the needs of the Business stakeholders. The JIRA Developer is also responsible for developing API calls to integrate to other systems such as, but not limited to Salesforce, IdentityNow, and WordPress. The role requires building custom solutions, customizations on UI, collaborating with vendors to acquire optimal add-ons, assess and rollout periodic upgrades and monitor the health of the JIRA instances within the organization. The JIRA Developer will take ownership of the product and projects and be capable of breaking down projects to deliver at an expected timeline while working effectively through all the phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Extensive experience in performing Atlassian installations, migrations, plugin installations and upgrades
· Extensive experience with Atlassian Jira Software/Server and Jira Service Management Data Center Edition (4+ years)
· Extensive experience building Automation for Jira automation rules
· Extensive experience building and maintaining Jira security with groups, project roles, issue roles, permission schemes, issue security schemes, etc.
· Extensive experience with ScriptRunner, including Groovy Scripting
· Experience using/extending Jira REST APIs
· Experience with HTML/JavaScript/CSS for user-facing customizations
· Experience with software development lifecycle; preferably with Agile, Kanban/Scrum
· Experience with version controlling tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent attention to detail
· Strong problem-solving skills
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following items:
· Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for JIRA users (including JIRA Core, Software and Service Desk projects)
· Configures, tests and implements necessary updates inside Atlassian software
· Proactive in identifying performance issues, performs analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques
· Recommends improvements to department procedural guidelines
· Breaks down larger projects, working on parts and communicating project updates while also moving the project along in a sustainable pace
· Follow Software Development Life Cycle best practices established by our client as well as industry standards
· Works with key project stakeholders to formulate, validate and communicate business requirements and scope of project
· Works with business areas to understand all impacts JIRA configuration has to organization areas and systems
· Responsible for research, design and application of configuration required to support business requirements
· Performs all configuration changes within applicable software test environments
· Develops and executes test cases and documentation to support configuration changes/updates/additions
· Coordinates and documents for all configuration activity for change control and auditing
· Responsible for reviewing test results with business owners and obtaining sign off for production implementation
· Responsible for coordination of production turnover of all configuration work upon user sign off
· Develops and maintains standards for development of business processes and their documentation
· Serves as a subject matter expert for root cause analysis and issue resolution
· Performs operation and delivery of Atlassian suite of applications and platform maintenance to agreed service levels
· Identifies potential areas of automation and aid in re-engineering the underlying business processes to achieve process improvement
· Responsible for identifying areas of unused/underutilized system functionality and architecture to support business initiatives
· Performs post implementation audits to ensure configuration matches current business documentation and process
· Coordinates multiple simultaneous projects and initiatives
· As required, facilitates and leads meetings and selected work groups
· Creates new wiki spaces for documenting business requirements and solutions to enhancement requests
· Manages and administers integration of JIRA with third party systems and applications for other Line of Businesses
· Provides functional training to new onboard users and groups as needed
· Provides JIRA Administration training to technical staff
· Familiarity with Agile software development methods and processes.
· Develops JQL queries and run data report extracts as needed to send the reports over to top level management executives.
· Performs other duties as assigned
