Job Description: Management Trainee – Administration Department

Position Overview

As a Camp Boss, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a campsite or remote accommodation facility. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of camp residents or workers while effectively leading and managing a diverse team. Your role will require a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, as well as the ability to handle unexpected situations and maintain efficient camp logistics.

I. Key Responsibilities

  • CAMP OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Oversee and manage all aspects of campsite operations, including accommodation, catering, transportation, and maintenance, to ensure the smooth functioning of the facility.
  • SAFETY AND COMFORT: Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for camp residents or workers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
  • TEAM LEADERSHIP: Lead and manage a diverse team of camp staff, delegate tasks effectively, provide guidance and support, and maintain discipline within the camp.
  • HSE COMPLIANCE: Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and protocols, ensuring that all camp activities comply with regulations and best practices.
  • COMMUNICATION: Coordinate with camp staff, residents, and external stakeholders through effective communication to address needs, concerns, and requests. Notify Heads of Departments (HODs) of any major concerns or issues within the camp, providing timely updates on the situation.
  • CONFLICT RESOLUTION: Resolve conflicts and handle unexpected situations, making quick and effective decisions to ensure the smooth operation of the camp.
  • LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT: Manage camp logistics, including staff scheduling, coordinating supplies and resources, and maintaining accurate records.
  • FIRST AID AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Possess basic first aid knowledge and be prepared to respond to emergencies or medical situations, ensuring the well-being of camp residents or workers.
  • ADAPTABILITY: Work in remote or challenging environments with flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances, ensuring the camp’s continued functionality.
  • PUNCTUAL BOARDING: Ensure workers board the bus on time for transportation to their respective worksites, maintaining an organized and efficient boarding process.
  • ATTENDANCE MANAGEMENT: Maintain accurate attendance records and collect time cards from workers, ensuring that attendance is tracked and reported accordingly.
  • CAMP MAINTENANCE: Regularly inspect the camp for cleanliness, damage, and breakages, and take necessary measures to maintain a tidy and safe environment for residents.
  • CAMP ENVIRONMENT: Foster a controlled and composed atmosphere within the camp, promoting discipline and adherence to camp rules and regulations.
  • SECURITY AND SAFETY: Be vigilant for any illegal activities within the camp and take immediate action to report and address security concerns or safety hazards.
  • CAMP OVERSIGHT: Maintain a comprehensive awareness of each worker’s client and worksite assignment, ensuring that all workers are correctly placed and accounted for.
  • DAILY CENSUS REPORTING: Report the daily camp census during morning briefings without delay, providing accurate and up-to-date information on the number of residents in the camp. Add on skills if any,
  • Previous experience in campsite management, hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Basic first aid training and emergency response skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work in remote or challenging environments.
