Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and service assigned rooms or areas according to established standards, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing bathrooms.
  • Use safety protection equipment and follow established safety procedures at all times.
  • Handle and store chemicals in compliance with hotel regulations and local laws.
  • Track room cleaning progress using appropriate software; report rooms that cannot be serviced to a supervisor.
  • Report necessary repairs or unsafe conditions using appropriate software.
  • Immediately report any health and safety incidents, security breaches, or suspicious behavior to the supervisor or manager on duty.
  • Respond to guest complaints and special requests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Monitor and control supplies and amenities, minimizing waste in housekeeping areas.
  • Report, log, and turn in all lost and found items according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure excellent service quality.
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects and perform turndown duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to meet time standards for efficient workflow and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
  • Ability to perceive and identify stains on linens and detect uncleanliness or soiled surfaces.
  • Ability to engage with guests, respond to their needs, and ensure their satisfaction.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math, as well as familiarity with housekeeping software and applications.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with other departments.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to position oneself to fulfill cleaning tasks, including grasping, reaching, and performing repetitive motions.
  • Frequently requires lifting or transporting items weighing up to 75 pounds and maneuvering carts and equipment weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Work tasks are primarily performed indoors, often in a basement setting.
  • Must be able to work in moderate temperatures controlled by hotel systems, as well as extreme temperatures (up to +110°F) for brief periods.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 70 pounds regularly and maneuver equipment weighing up to 250 pounds consistently.

Requirements

A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Prior hospitality experience preferred.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation from employment.
