In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support to help individuals achieve greater independence, enhance their quality of life, and participate actively in their communities. Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration when trained and authorized.
  • Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate communication using various methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), to ensure effective understanding and expression.
  • Provide home and community care by accompanying individuals to appointments, recreational activities, or community outings.
  • Collect data on progress, behaviors, and support outcomes to inform care plans and ensure consistent documentation.
  • Drive individuals safely to appointments or activities while maintaining adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans that meet each individual’s unique needs.

Skills

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other disabilities in home or community settings.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices.
  • Ability to perform caregiving tasks with compassion, patience, and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with data collection methods related to behavioral health or progress tracking.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for transporting clients safely.
  • Basic understanding of medication administration procedures (training provided if necessary).
