JOINERY SUPERVISOR/MANAGER

Job Title: Wooden Joinery Supervisor/Manager Location: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates Employment Type: Full-Time Experience: 5+ years in wooden joinery or carpentry supervision

Job Summary The Wooden Joinery Supervisor/Manager will oversee all aspects of wooden joinery fabrication and installation. This role combines technical proficiency, people leadership, planning, and quality control to ensure joinery products meet design intent, budget, and schedule. The ideal candidate has hands-on joinery experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering complex joinery packages in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise workshop joinery operations, including fabrication, assembly, finishing, packaging, and loading.
  • Read and interpret architectural, shop drawings, 3D models, and B.O.Qs; verify dimensions, materials, and hardware requirements.
  • Prepare and manage fabrication plans, cutting lists, production schedules, and manpower allocation; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager, Site Supervisors, and Procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials and compliance with project milestones.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality control procedures, and company policies; conduct regular toolbox talks and site inspections.
  • Oversee subcontractors and in-house carpenters; provide coaching, performance feedback, and problem-solving guidance.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes, including material testing, joint accuracy, finish consistency, and defect tracking.
  • Manage waste reduction, cost control, and efficient use of materials; optimize cutting plans to minimize scrap.
  • Inspect incoming materials (timber, laminates, veneers, hardware, finishes) for quality and conformity to specifications.
  • Ensure accurate as-built documentation, finish schedules, and handover packages for clients.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all joinery processes.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives; ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment.
  • Mentor junior joiners and shop staff; support training and career development.
  • Review and approve timesheets, daily progress reports, and project-related documentation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in wooden joinery, carpentry, or cabinetmaking, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of joinery fabrication methods, machining, CNC familiarity is a plus.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, elevations, sections, and 3D models; familiarity with BIM/Revit is advantageous.
  • Experience with materials: solid wood, plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, veneers, hardware, finishes, sealants.
  • Proficiency in shop math, cutting lists, material optimization, and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills; ability to lead diverse teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities; detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, and safety practices in a joinery workshop (edge banders, thicknessers, planers, saws, CNC machines, sanding, finishing equipment).
  • Knowledge of UAE building codes, standards, and local regulations is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changing project scopes.

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Carpentry, Wood Technology, Furniture Design, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Work Environment

  • Workshop-based role with on-site supervision as required.
  • Travel to project sites and supplier locations as needed.
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
