Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across a variety of commercial, industrial, and renovation projects. Your expertise will ensure that all electrical work complies with safety standards and electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC). This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, read blueprints and schematics, and utilize a wide range of hand and power tools to deliver top-quality electrical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment such as ohmmeters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately execute electrical installations and repairs.
- Work safely on construction sites, adhering to all safety protocols including high voltage and low voltage electrical standards.
- Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems to optimize operational efficiency.
- Assist with renovation projects by updating existing wiring systems or installing new electrical components as needed.
- Collaborate with construction teams, frame carpenters, and other trades to coordinate project timelines and ensure seamless integration of electrical work.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues early and perform preventive maintenance.
Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification demonstrating comprehensive electrical knowledge.
- Proven experience in industrial electrician work, commercial wiring, or construction site environments.
- Strong understanding of NEC standards, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with low voltage systems, high voltage wiring, and control panels.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
- Ability to operate hand tools such as wire strippers, screwdrivers, pliers; power tools including drills and saws; as well as specialized testing equipment like ohmmeters.
- Experience with renovation projects involving existing wiring updates or system upgrades.
- Knowledge of schematics interpretation for complex electrical layouts.
- Skilled in framing carpentry or handyman tasks is a plus for versatile project support.
