Overview
Adios Radon is seeking to add a licensed Journeyman Electrician to our small business family to be half of a two man team installing radon mitigation systems, and to perform the electrical work on residential and commercial radon mitigation jobs. This position requires willingness for daily travel to job sites throughout our service area, which ranges roughly from Des Moines to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
All necessary memberships, education, certifications and licenses are covered. Company truck, tools, tech, phone, & fuel card are provided after training is successfully completed.
A successful candidate will earn $90K to 120K annually. Our preferred compensation model is commission based, and the commission rate is based on performance (ability and efficiency). We do not currently offer a benefits package. All major holidays are paid time off. We do offer the freedom to block days off as long as you're not already scheduled to work (we typically do not schedule out much more than about a week in advance).
The electrical part of these jobs is typically very simple (pull power from an existing outlet and install a non-fusible disconnect next to the radon fan outside, or add an attic outlet off the garage door operator outlet). You would also be helping with the rest of the mitigation install (running 3" pvc through the home to the exterior, some crawlspace encapsulation, etc).
There will likely be an opportunity within a year or two to start building an electric service division outside of the radon company, depending on growth.
Duties & Responsibilites
- Arrive on time and exercise courtesy and professionalism toward the home’s occupant (which may include animals)
- Collaborate with other team members to perform installation of radon mitigation systems in compliance with EPA standards, and have specific responsibility for the electrical aspects of the installation in compliance with the NEC.
- Accept and process payments & have clients sign agreements as required
- You’ll attend very few company meetings. Our team is in constant communication with one another as needed.

- Highly organized multitasker who works well independently in a fast-paced environment
- Hold a valid driver’s license & clean driving record
- Ability to drive a pickup and pull/back trailers
- Proficiency using hand tools & power tools. Some daily tasks on this job will include:

- Cutting, fitting, hanging and gluing up PVC pipe in a professional manner
- Making electrical connections to connect radon fan to power source
- Ability to pass a background check through the relevant realtor associations (to obtain Sentrilock lockbox access to homes that are for sale)
- Flexibility is required as your schedule may change unexpectedly due to the demands of our customer base.
- Certification in radon measurement and radon mitigation are NOT required for an electrician on our team, but we will pay for training to obtain these certifications if desired
