Journeyman Plumber - Kotzebue, AK

Job Description

Plans layout, installs, and repairs piping, plumbing fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.

  • This position is located in Kotzebue, AK. Housing available on site._

Responsibilities

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local plumbing codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of piping and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed piping is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs piping.
  • PVC process piping in water treatment systems.
  • Hydronic heating systems in residential and commercial structures.
  • Potable water piping in residential and commercial structers.
  • Potable water and sanitatry sewer taps on underground public utilities.
  • Pressure testing on newly installed systems
  • Bac-T sample collection on potable water systems when required.
  • Cuts and welds steel structural members.
  • Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their Supervisor.
  • This position requires supervising apprentices in a journeyman’s apprenticeship program and signing off on their time.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years Journeyman plumber experience will be considered.
  • Minimum five (5) years related experience.
  • Must be a licensed plumber in the State of Alaska.
  • Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.

The employee must regularly lift, move and /or carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Steel toed boots required on the job.

Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA security checkpoint.
