Fenner Dunlop is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Jr. Information Technology Specialist to join our Corporate IT team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Reporting to the IT Director, this role provides hands-on technical support to end users across the organization, ensuring reliable operation of hardware, software, and IT systems. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver, effective communicator, and collaborative team player with a passion for delivering excellent user experiences.
Fenner Dunlop, a Michelin Group company, designs and manufactures the widest range of bulk material handling conveyor belts in the world. We strive to be the premier provider of the safest and most reliable conveyor belting and services to a variety of heavy industrial markets such as coal mining, hard rock mining, sand, gravel, wood handling, power generation, pulp and paper. Fenner Dunlop provides North American made belting, manufactured at our facilities located throughout the United States and Canada. For over 150 years, Fenner Dunlop has researched, designed, developed, manufactured, and tested its conveyor belting products, supporting nearly any type of conveyor application, and providing the right solutions to protect conveyor system investments in the harshest conveying environments.
What You’ll Do
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical assistance and support to end-users, both in person and remotely, to resolve hardware and software issues at all locations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems to ensure IT systems function properly.
- Monitor the IT service desk and respond to IT issues in a timely manner.
- Clearly communicate technical information to non-technical users through various channels (in person, phone, email, chat, etc.).
System Installation, Configuration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and update computer hardware, software, operating systems, and applications.
- Perform regular maintenance on computer equipment and peripherals to ensure optimal performance.
- Provision and support company equipment across all departments and locations.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Manage end-user inventory of IT devices, including hardware and software assets.
Documentation & User Resources
- Create and update user-friendly how-to guides and other end-user documentation to support IT processes and self-service.
Customer Service & Interpersonal Skills
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and problem-solving.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of users, both verbally and in writing.
- Build strong working relationships with departments across the organization to support business needs and foster user adoption.
- Demonstrate a proactive and empathetic approach to end-user support, consistently aiming to improve user satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities
- Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally, as required.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule as needed to support project deadlines or system needs.
- Exhibit professional behavior at all times, particularly when representing the company on customer or distributor sites.
- Adhere to and promote company safety policies and procedures to support a strong internal safety culture.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma required; additional technical certifications or coursework preferred.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in IT system administration and help desk or technical support roles.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated customer service mindset, with a passion for helping others and delivering a positive user experience.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to stay current with emerging technologies.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving IT issues, with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity.
Preferred Technical Experience & Knowledge:
- Windows 10/11
- PC diagnostics and support
- Experience with Microsoft File Servers and Microsoft Print Server Management
- Proficiency with Active Directory administration
- Working knowledge of Office 365 administration and support
- Familiarity with PC hardware and peripherals
- Experience with Mobile Device Management (Android & iOS)
