Jr. Web Developer/Designer

Job Summary

The Jr. Web Developer/Designer is a hybrid role that blends creative design, front-end development, and day-to-day website support. You’ll design custom layouts, build and update sites in WordPress using Pro Theme and Cornerstone, and write custom JavaScript and PHP when projects require deeper functionality.

While you’ll still contribute to full website builds, the core focus of this role is supporting our existing client base: handling updates, troubleshooting issues, improving site functionality, and ensuring every website we manage runs smoothly.

You’ll partner closely with the Project Manager and Technical Director to make sure our websites stay modern, stable, and aligned with client goals.

Key Responsibilities

Development, Support & Implementation (60%)

Support & Maintenance

• Manage day-to-day support tickets with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Handle site edits, updates, content changes, and new page creation.
• Troubleshoot styling issues, plugin conflicts, and layout problems.
• Document work and communication properly within the ticketing system.
• Occasionally schedule online meetings with clients to clarify support requests.

Development Work

• Build and customize sites in WordPress using Pro Theme and Cornerstone.
• Write custom JavaScript as needed for interactive elements and functionality.
• Write custom PHP when deeper customization is required (theme tweaks, functions, integrations, etc.).
• Optimize sites for performance, accessibility, and SEO.
• Assist with staging setups, migrations, and DNS/domain adjustments as needed.

Design & UX (35%)

• Design visually appealing, user-friendly web pages that align with client branding and design standards.
• Develop engaging digital experiences that follow modern web design principles.
• Work with Project Manager to create branding expectations
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to refine designs based on client feedback.
• Work exclusively on internal design tasks, without direct client presentations.

Professional Growth (5%)

• Stay up to date with web design trends, WordPress advancements, and best practices.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance training (if applicable).
• Participate in ongoing training in UX/UI best practices, accessibility (WCAG standards), and SEO for web design.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in WordPress and website maintenance
• Strong skills in JS and PHP
• Strong skills in web design, HTML and CSS
• Familiarity with WCAG standards and web accessibility
• Understanding of SEO principles and digital design

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
