The Superior Court is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Judicial Services & Training Support Specialist to join our team.
This role provides operational support for the Temporary Judge Program, assists with community outreach initiatives, tracks judicial education compliance, supports various judicial programs, prepares annual reports submitted to the Judicial Council, and contributes to the development and delivery of judicial training.
Success in this role requires strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse stakeholders. The incumbent must also exercise exceptional discretion when handling highly sensitive and confidential information.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general direction, performs specialized administrative, programmatic, and coordination duties in support of the Court’s judicial services functions. This classification provides operational support for the Temporary Judge Program, supports community outreach initiatives, tracks judicial education compliance, supports judicial programs, prepares annual reports submitted to the Judicial Council, and assists with the development and delivery of judicial training. Work is performed with a significant degree of independence and requires skill in interacting with the public, partner agencies, community/civic groups, and all levels of judicial officers, management, and staff as necessary for the administration of assigned Judicial Services responsibilities, as well as use diplomacy and tack when interacting with various internal and external stakeholders. In addition, incumbents are expected to exercise care and discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Judicial Services and Training Support Specialist is a single-incumbent classification responsible for performing routine to complex administrative duties supporting the Court’s judicial services functions.
Employees in this class support the administrative functions of the work group and the Senior Training and Development Specialist and typically report to Executive Staff.
This class is distinguished from the Senior Training and Development Specialist (Judicial Services) in that the latter performs the more complex work assigned to the, such as assignment of entire projects and training functions involving Judicial Officers and provides technical and functional direction over lower-level staff, as assigned.

Serve as a primary point of contact for training inquiries and judicial services, communicate tactfully and professionally with judges, staff, and members of the public.

Provides administrative services for the Temporary Judge Program; works with judicial officers to schedule and organize orientation and training programs; prepares correspondence and reports - often of a highly sensitive and confidential nature; and coordinates meetings, visits, and tours with parties of interest.

Design, research, and deliver training programs, develop curriculum and materials. Facilitate sessions for judicial officers. Develop research, and deliver training programs, and create curriculum and materials.

Schedules training, orientation, and periodic updates required for temporary judges; maintains training rosters and certification records. Serves as the primary point of contact for temporary judge volunteers, providing program information, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with Rule of Court requirements.

Plans and conduct program outreach and promotional activities for assigned programs; develops information, outreach, and educational materials, including brochures, information packets, flyers, guides, handbooks, manuals, and other documents; plans and conduct (or assists in conducting) programs and/or events, including planning and carrying out event/activity logistical arrangements; makes presentations regarding assigned program.

Supports judicial and court leadership in planning and implementing community outreach activities, including courthouse events, mock trials, summer intern/extern programs.

Conducts training needs analysis; determines training objectives and methods of instruction and develops course outlines; consults with subject-matter expert facilitators to design and plan training content; selects training methods and materials and schedules training programs; prepares lesson plans, visual aids, and handouts for use in instruction both in person and virtually.

Monitor and ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements and deadlines, maintain accurate records of training attendance and completion, and prepare and submit regular compliance reports to leadership and governing bodies. Provides administrative and logistical support for judicial or court events. Coordinates meeting schedules, agendas, speaker arrangements, presentation materials, and technology needs.

Maintains databases, calendars, rosters, and documentation related to judicial services functions.

Maintain and develop applications and systems that support training programs, including learning management systems (LMS), scheduling tools, and reporting platforms.

Assists with the development and delivery of judicial training.

Participates in committees and task forces, assigned.

Provides administrative support to committees and work groups as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to an associate’s degree in education design, business administration, psychology, communications, human resources management or related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience – or – in lieu of education requirement, seven (7) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience, preference of at least two (2) years of the experience be in designing and delivering education programs. Experience in a public court or public agency desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote).
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Court's vehicle insurance program.
