ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a battery materials company focused on developing lithium metal anode technology — one of the most promising frontiers in next-generation battery development. Alongside our core materials R&D, we are building an in-house AI-powered vision system that analyzes electrode images to extract physical insights and support our manufacturing process.
As a Junior AI/ML Engineer, you'll join a small, cross-functional team working at the intersection of materials science and machine learning. You'll contribute to building and improving the computer vision and data science tools that help us understand our electrodes better and move faster in the lab and on the production line. Senior engineers and mentors will be there to guide you every step of the way.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
– Help build and test machines learning models that analyze images — figuring out what patterns they detect and how accurate they are
– Prepare and clean image datasets for training — labeling, organizing, and making sure the data is ready to use
– Run experiments with different model settings to see what works best, and document your results clearly
– Work alongside senior engineers to improve how models perform and integrate them into our systems
– Write clean, readable Python code and participate in team code reviews
– Help maintain and improve the tools and scripts the team uses every day
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
– Comfortable with Python — you've used it for coursework, projects, or personal exploration. You know how to write a function, work with data, and debug your code
– Basic understanding of machine learning — you know what training and testing a model means, you've used libraries like scikit-learn or PyTorch at least in a class or tutorial setting
– CS or related degree — degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or currently finishing one. Recent graduates are very welcome
– Familiar with data and numbers — comfortable using libraries like NumPy or Pandas to manipulate and explore datasets
– Any hands-on project experience is a big plus — class projects, Kaggle competitions, GitHub repos, personal experiments.
– Collaborative mindset — you ask good questions, communicate clearly, and enjoy learning from teammates
BONUS POINTS (NOT REQUIRED)
– You've used a cloud platform before — even basic experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure (e.g., running a notebook, storing a file)
– You've used Git for version control — committing, pushing, and collaborating on a shared repo
– You've worked with images in code — even something simple like loading or displaying images with OpenCV or PIL
– You've used AI-assisted coding tools in your workflow — such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar co-working tools
– You have a GitHub profile, Kaggle account, or any public portfolio showing your work
– You've taken any online ML courses — Coursera, fast.ai, DeepLearning.AI, etc.
TOOLS YOU'LL WORK WITH
Python · PyTorch · NumPy · Pandas · OpenCV · Git · Jupyter Notebook · AWS / GCP · Docker (basics) · MLflow
Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
