Department Overview:

The Strategic Services Department serves as the operational hub for business transformation with ELCO. The department unites three key disciplines:

Business Intelligence (BI) – delivering curated data, reporting, and analytics insights

Project Management (PM) – ensuring structured project delivery and governance

Strategic Delivery (SD) – overseeing testing, deployment, documentation, and change readiness

Business Data Analysts (BDAs) within Strategic Services serve as a critical link between business needs, data insights, and strategic execution. BDAs partner with business stakeholders, project teams and IT stakeholders to support informed decision-making. By developing processes and mechanisms that help ensure data is accurate, actionable, and aligned to enterprise priorities, BDAs help drive efficiency, support successful project outcomes, and enable the effective adoption of new systems and processes across the organization.

Summary:

The Junior Business Data Analyst supports the creation of reports, dashboards, and data validation process that help business users across the life and annuity organization make informed decisions. This entry-level role is responsible for basic data analysis, data quality checks, documentation, and assisting senior analysts with building analytics solutions in Tableau and SQL. The role is ideal for someone early in their analytics career with a passion for learning data analysis and the direct impact to operational processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining reports and dashboards used by business partners across Operations, New Business, Underwriting, Claims, Agency and Sales.
  • Perform routine data validation and data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support the creation of curated datasets with guidance from senior team members.
  • Help gather user requirements and document reporting needs.
  • Troubleshoot basic data issues and escalate more complex problems to senior analysts.
  • Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and version control practices under guidance.
  • Participate in department and project meetings.
  • Duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
  • 0-1 years of experience in data or reporting
  • Basic familiarity with SQL and Tableau (or similar tools)
  • Solid Excel skills
  • Willingness to learn insurance and annuity business operations and terminology

Pay: $26.00 - $28.50 per hour
