Junior Camp Counselor

Position Overview:
Old Town Hot Springs is seeking a motivated and responsible Junior Camp Counselor to assist with our summer camp program for children ages 5–9. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience working with children in a fun, active, and supportive environment. Junior Counselors work closely with Lead Counselors to help create a safe, engaging, and positive camp experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Counselors in supervising and engaging campers
• Help set up, lead, and participate in daily activities, including:
• Gentle outdoor hikes
• Swimming and water play in the pool
• Field games such as soccer, kickball, and relays
• Arts and crafts projects
• Supporting campers during yoga and dance classes
• Encourage positive behavior and inclusion among campers
• Help maintain a safe and organized camp environment
• Serve as a positive role model for children

Qualifications:

• Some experience working with children ages 5–9 (babysitting, volunteering, or assisting in programs acceptable)
• Responsible, dependable, and eager to learn
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Patient, caring, and attentive to children’s needs
• Comfortable participating in outdoor and physical activities
• Must be at least 14 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in recreation, education, or child development

Physical Requirements

• Ability to life and carry 30-50 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time

Schedule

• June 15-August 14 (9 week program)
• Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 1:15 PM
