Technical Software Designer

System Administrator (NJ, USA)


ADD Systems is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with strong Linux (RHEL) and automation/scripting skills to join our IT team. This position plays a key role in managing and evolving our hybrid infrastructure — spanning Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware ESXi — to ensure stability, performance, and scalability across mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in maintaining a secure and efficient IT ecosystem.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, manage, and administer a diverse, mission-critical IT environment that includes RHEL, Windows Server, Hyper-V, and VMware ESXi systems.
  • Deploy, maintain, and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers using industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline administration, monitoring, and patch management tasks.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure services: DNS, NTP, Proxy, LDAP/Active Directory, DHCP, SMTP, and related technologies.
  • Maintain and enhance system monitoring, alerting, and backup/recovery processes using tools such as Veeam & Cohesity.
  • Troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues across multi-OS environments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to provide advanced system support and ensure uptime across hosted and on-prem environments.
  • Participate in after-hours or weekend maintenance windows as required for system upgrades or critical support.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong proficiency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) administration and lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with shell scripting (Bash), PowerShell, and automation frameworks such as Ansible or Python.
  • Working knowledge of VMware vCenter, ESXi, Cisco networking, HPE Nimble storage, Veeam backup, Check Point, and Aruba switching preferred.
  • Understanding of core network and infrastructure services including DNS, LDAP/AD, NTP, and SMTP.
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers and internal teams to resolve system-level issues.
  • Excellent documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Role is Monday to Friday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Eastern Time Zone.
  • Selected candidate will work out of our New Jersey office. Onboarding and initial training will take place in one of our offices.
  • May require occasional after-hours or weekend work to support upgrades, maintenance, or production issues (compensated with overtime).
  • Salary range: $75,000-$85,000.
