We're looking for a Junior Full Stack Developer to help us herd some of the bits!

About SynapseMX, Inc.

Description

No recruiting firms - thanks!

About SynapseMX

At SynapseMX, we’re bridging the gap between deep aviation expertise and Silicon Valley innovation. We build the quality assurance backbone for complex operational domains where "getting it right" is mission-critical. Our software is used by aircraft maintenance teams to replace paper-driven, fragmented QA processes with a single authoritative digital platform. We are a company built by airline maintenance experts - our software has been used by multiple air carriers around the world, and we’re preparing for deployment across U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard units.

Our flagship platform, TIMS, is an advanced, real-time coordination platform designed to enhance aircraft readiness at both strategic and operational levels. By unifying inspection oversight and work centers into a single, holistic interface, we enable smarter, faster decision-making that improves aircraft availability.

If you want to solve real-world problems, you belong here.

We are lean, fast, and focused. We don’t have layers of middle management, and we don’t move at a "corporate" pace. At the same time, we have DoD contracts that require a structured delivery - which means contractually-defined (but reasonable) schedules, (moderate) time tracking, and a final product that is reviewed and accepted by the U.S. Air Force. Joining us means:

  • Zero Red Tape:
You report to the CEO and own your workstreams.
  • Peer Accountability: In a team of 12, your code, your logic, and your work ethic are visible. We don't glorify long hours, but we expect focused time on the work.
  • Real Mentorship, Real Ownership: You’ll work directly alongside senior engineers to participate in the decisions for the “how” of building capabilities. You’re not here to watch - you’re here to roll your sleeves up. Senior engineers will help you find your footing and you’ll be expected to run with it.

The Challenge: Real Work, Real Stakes, Real Growth

This is not a role where you spend six months in code review purgatory waiting for permission to contribute. From day one, you will be working with production code on a platform that maintenance teams depend on. You’ll be contributing to:

  • Core Platform Features: Workflows, UX improvements, and AI-enhanced capabilities - implemented using TypeScript/JavaScript for our stack (EmberJS and FeathersJS)
  • Tested, Deployable Code: Unit and integration tests as part of a DevSecOps CI/CD pipeline.
  • New capabilities: The majority of the work will be in support of new features, not triaging/fixing legacy technical debt.

Is this you?

  • Your Background: 2+ years of full-stack development experience with a bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; OR 1-4 years of experience building increasingly complex software - internships, co-ops and personal projects all count here. Veterans transitioning through coding bootcamps, self-taught engineers with shipped projects, and career-changers with demonstrable builds are explicitly encouraged to apply. We care about what you've built and how you think, not the path you took to get here.
  • You Want to Learn Fast: You understand that the fastest way to grow as an engineer is to work on real problems alongside people who have solved them before. You ask good questions and apply the answers.
  • You Take Ownership Early: You don’t wait to be hand-held. You understand the objective, flag blockers early, and drive your slice of the work forward.
  • You Value “Operational Weight”: You’d rather build software that a maintainer relies on every day than optimize metrics nobody reads. The context of the work matters to you.
  • You Thrive with Structure and Ambiguity in Equal Measure: You’re comfortable working within defined acceptance criteria while still needing to figure out the “how” alongside the team.
  • You’re a Team Player: You recognize that building in isolation is problematic, and you’re willing to learn and pair as required.

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Learn more about ITAR/EAR here.

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript. Some front-end framework (React, Angular, etc) experience is a requirement; prior EmberJS is a bonus
  • Some back-end experience building APIS in NodeJS or similar - prior FeathersJS is a bonus
  • Basic database knowledge - PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, or similar
  • Some exposure to cloud environments (AWS or similar) and containerization concepts (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and agile development practices
  • Comfort working within defined requirements and acceptance criteria in a structured delivery environment
  • Interest in aerospace, aviation, or defense - no prior experience required, but genuine curiosity about the domain goes a long way
