Junior Graphic Design Artist

Junior Graphic Design Artist

Location: Harbor City, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Industry: Design / Graphic Arts / Fashion / Swimwear
Company: Sunsets Inc

About Us:

Sunsets Inc. is the longest-running family-owned swimwear company in the United States. Since 1984, we’ve been redefining swimwear—starting with the industry-changing idea to sell bikini tops and bottoms separately. That innovation launched the mix-and-match revolution, giving women the freedom to choose styles, sizes, and colors that truly fit them.

Our passion is simple: we want every woman to love how she feels in our swimwear and cover-ups. From fit and styling to quality and comfort, everything we create is designed with confidence and freedom in mind. We’re proud of our heritage, inspired by our customers, and excited to keep evolving.

Position Overview

Sunsets Inc. is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Graphic Design Artist to join our in-house creative team. This role is ideal for an intermediate-level designer ready to grow within a fashion- and lifestyle-driven brand environment.

You will collaborate with the design team to create digital, print, and physical product assets, supporting seasonal collections and marketing initiatives. This position offers hands-on exposure to the full design lifecycle—from concept development and trend-driven visuals to production-ready artwork for swimwear and lifestyle products.

Responsibilities:

  • Artwork Creation & Finalization: Support the team in the creation and finalization of original artwork pattern designs for both digital and print media.
  • Design Software Proficiency: Use Photoshop and Illustrator to create, prepare, edit, modify, resize, recolor, and match Pantone color standards for original and/or purchased artworks.
  • AI Tools Integration: Utilize AI-driven tools to enhance the creative process, ideation, and overall design work.
  • Artwork & CAD File Management: Create, edit, revise, update, and organize CADs. Drop pattern artworks onto CADs and/or pictures, and assist with basic design files.
  • Database Maintenance: Maintain an accurate database of all artwork files, CADs, and related assets.
  • Photo Retouching & Color Correction: Support the team with retouching and color-correcting photos from lifestyle and e-commerce photoshoots.
  • Product Design Support: Assist in creating digital and physical design products, including labels, hangtags, flyers, mockups, trims, packaging, and others.
  • Print Quality Assurance: Review print strike-offs and work with Pantone and sample swatches to ensure the highest quality output. Provide comments and approval as needed.
  • Daily Graphic Design Support: Assist the design team with various graphic design tasks to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field, or relevant experience in the design industry.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. AI Midjourney knowledge or another AI graphic software is a plus, but not required.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for design, with strong attention to color, layout, and overall visual aesthetics.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Creativity: A strong creative mindset, with the ability to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to the table. Experience in artwork pattern design, branding, and promotional materials. Understanding of repeat patterns and print techniques.
  • Schedule of this position: Monday to Friday | Core business hours | Onsite
  • Must have a visual portfolio to be considered (PDF or WEB).

Why Join Us:

  • Be part of a heritage brand with a strong creative identity.
  • Work in a collaborative, supportive, and creative environment.
  • We offer training, but basic graphic design skills are required.
  • Gain hands-on experience in product, print, and digital design.
  • Learn from experienced designers and production partners.
