ROLE PURPOSE :- This role focuses on improving productivity, efficiency, and standardization in manufacturing operations. The engineer will work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to analyze existing processes, design improved layouts, reduce cycle time, and document standard operating proceduresKEY RESPONSIBILITY :- 1. Plant Layout Optimisation
- Study existing plant and workstation layouts
- Analyse material flow, movement, and space utilization
- Propose optimized layouts to reduce motion, handling, and bottlenecks
- Support implementation of revised layouts on the shopfloor
2. Cycle Time Calculation & Work Measurement
- Conduct time studies using stopwatch / video methods
- Calculate cycle time, takt time, and manpower requirements
- Identify delays, non-value-added activities, and imbalance
- Support line balancing and productivity improvement initiatives
3. Production Optimisation
- Analyse production data to identify losses and inefficiencies
- Support improvement projects related to throughput, capacity, and output
- Assist in reducing idle time, rework, and process variation
- Participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, 5S, TPM
4. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Creation
- Observe actual shopfloor processes step-by-step
- Document clear, simple, and accurate SOPs for operations
- Include safety, quality checkpoints, and best practices
- Support SOP implementation and operator training
5. Industrial Drawing & Documentation
- Prepare 2D and basic 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Fusion 360
- Create layouts, fixtures, workstation drawings, and process aids
- Revise drawings based on shopfloor feedback and trials
- Maintain proper drawing version control and documentation
6. Process Design & Standardisation
- Support design of new manufacturing processes or workflows
- Assist in defining standard methods for repetitive operations
- Ensure processes are practical, safe, and repeatable
- Help in standardizing tools, fixtures, and work instructions
Skills RequiredTechnical Skills
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
- AutoCAD (show drawings, layouts, sections)
- Any 3D modelling software
- Ability to read engineering drawings
