Summary:
The Junior Instructional Designer will provide instructional design expertise and support to projects as well as consultations with faculty and staff. This position will assist the Instructional Design team in implementing and maintaining technology and instructional strategies to benefit academic programs and their courses. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with faculty to build or enhance course content and support existing technology in various programs across the university.
The Junior Instructional Designer will also be responsible for assisting with the support of current programs and assisting faculty with educational technology matters as they arise. Responsibilities include all forms of electronically supported synchronous and asynchronous instruction including courses that are entirely online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced, Web-based learning, virtual interactive education, audio, video, Smartboards, lecture tools, collaboration tools, assessment tools and digital asset management.

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology, Web Development or other related degree with at least 2 years related classroom and instructional technology experience working in a higher education setting.

Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others, especially when resolving technical issues for frustrated end-users. Strong customer service skills required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems which involve very few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific audio ability is required to handle telephone and in person requests for assistance and equipment and to evaluate audio output of equipment. Specific manual ability is required to carry, install, operate and adjust equipment, such as changing lamps, and revising knob settings. Specific mobility required moving equipment from building to building or floor to floor, including buildings or other spaces equipped only with stairs, or to move rapidly around campus in response to emergency calls.
