Our growing firm is seeking an experienced Junior Interior Designer with creative and technical know-how with exceptional drive, attention to detail and willingness to learn. The position has responsibility to design and support the Design Team managing projects from concept to completion.

The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter who also works comfortably in a team environment, exhibits warm, friendly and clear communication, works fast and accurately with exceptional attention to details, juggles multiple priorities and works well under pressure and deadlines.

Our Junior Designers will learn every aspect of the design process with the goal of eventually being promoted from within as they build their knowledge, experience and confidence.

The Position

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work.

1. Support Design Team/Projects Start to Close

· Attend milestone meetings and take client feedback notes and confirm measurements to support Lead Designer

· Communicate/collaborate with Lead Designer on job concept and project goals

· Perform initial site measurements alongside Lead Designer

· Support Lead Deisnger by helping when needed to prepare client drawings and presentations

· Update, track and monitor client budgets and specifications

· Ensure project materials and furnishings are within profit margin specifications

· Always provide exceptional customer service

· Make site visits to check in on renovation and new construction projects and report back to Lead Designer with photos, notes and any other feedback

· Execute with a high attention to detail regarding measurements, drawings, pricing and purchasing

· Assist with coordinating deliveries, Intall Day duties and handle post installation tasks

2. Create 3D Designs, Models, Renderings and Drawings

· Utilize SketchUp to create As-Is drawings and build 3D designs for all spaces, efficiently

· Design and review cabinetry drawings for custom built-ins and cabinetry

· Research specifications required for drawings and complex projects

· Develop floor plans, elevations and 3Ds drawings to support Lead Designer throughout the project

· Draw and label construction documents for any new construction or renovation projects, specifying electrical, plumbing, millwork, cabinetry, furnishings, etc. placements to be used for Spec Books and Jobsite Packets.

3. Develop Concepts and Research and Source Materials, Finishes, Furnishings, Fixtures

· Create design concepts in collaboration with Lead Designer

· Prepare and help create conceptual story boards and mood boards and order coordinating samples and product information prior to presentations

· Assist Lead Designer with specifying and researching materials, finishes, furnishings, lighting, accessories, etc. required for each project and ensure selections within profit margin guidelines

· Call vendors confirming pricing, check stock, lead-time, follow up, etc.

· Prepare quotes for client approval and cross check pricing and quantities for accuracy and stock while also keeping SLB profitability standards

· Correctly place client approved orders with Lead Designer with appropriate vendors

· Track project purchases and assist Lead Designer to resource items that are backordered or discontinued

· Call vendors and workrooms to follow up on orders/expedite orders

· Communicate with clients regularly, at a minimum, collaborate with Lead Designer to assist with weekly Friday Updates

· Work with Administrative Assistant to schedule Install Days and ensure the proper trades are scheduled for a flawless execution

· Assist on Install Day with site measurements, troubleshooting, and documenting issues

4. Establish Positive, Professional Client, Contractor and Vendor Relations

· Attend client meetings and prepare and present content in a positive, professional manner. Go above and beyond to capture all client feedback.

· Provide clear, proactive, direct, frequent communication and presence with vendors, trades, contractors, and clients; run errands to assist on projects when needed.

· Provide support to Lead Designer to analyze and resolve complex technical, design, and installation issues; think outside the box

· Proactively problem solve, troubleshoot and effectively resolve issues with clients, when possible, close the loop in a self-directed manner

· Review final Design Plan presentations and Product Approval Documents to ensure all quantities, products, pricing, tax and procurement is accurate

5. Teamwork & Leadership

· Provide clear, proactive and frequent communication across the team

· Assist with reviewing and approving drawings providing feedback, revisions or edits

· Live the firm’s values; contribute to company culture in a positive way

· Come to work each day with a strong passion for design and the type of work we do

· Keep Lead Designer and Creative Director/CEO informed on relevant matters in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

· Minimum of eight years’ experience as an interior designer at a design firm with a focus on luxury residential design

· Experience leading and managing on-time and on-budget projects with client satisfaction and profitability

· Bachelor’s degree required, prefer in Interior Design

· Experience as a Lead or Mentor of a team highly preferred

· Must be proficient in SketchUp software

· Must have experience sourcing with trade furnishings vendors and custom window coverings

· Must have a design portfolio that demonstrates a design sensibility that resonates with our design aesthetic

Technical Skills

· Must have knowledge of design process, principles, construction methods, creating detailed construction drawings with proper notation

· Highly proficient in Sketchup

· Experience with DesignFiles and/or Canva is a plus

· Proficient in Google Drive/Sheets/Slides

· Must have experience creating design boards and presentations

· Strong presentation skills to present design stories and information to a client

· Project management skills
