Junior Interior Designer Carter Design | St. James, New York

Carter Design is a boutique interior design firm specializing in high-end residential projects. We are seeking a thoughtful, detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our team in our studio based in St. James, New York.

This role is ideal for a motivated designer with 1–3 years of experience in an interior design firm who is eager to grow within a collaborative, design-focused studio environment.

Position Overview

The Junior Interior Designer will support the Lead Designers and Project Manager through all phases of a project—from initial concept development through final installation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and passionate about residential design.

Responsibilities

• Assist with concept development, design presentations, and material sourcing
• Produce drawings and documentation in CAD
• Support development of plans, elevations, and design details
• Prepare presentations, mood boards, and client-facing materials
• Assist with furniture, fixture, and finish selections
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors
• Support purchasing, tracking, and installation processes
• Conduct site visits as needed

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional experience at an interior design firm
• Proficiency in CAD and Photoshop
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Passion for high-end residential design
• Rendering Skills a bonus
