Job Description - Junior Landscape Designer / Horticulturist
The Junior Landscape Designer will be involved in landscape design and renovation projects across our three commercial landscape maintenance branches. This person will assist the Director of Landscape Programs and the Senior Landscape Designer to bring clients' visions to life. This position is perfect for a highly motivated individual with a foundational understanding of landscape principles who is ready to learn and develop their skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design Support:
- Assist in developing creative and functional landscape design concepts.
- Support lead designers during site analysis and client consultations, observing and learning to identify project goals, site conditions, and client preferences.
- Help prepare compelling presentation materials, including sketches, conceptual drawings, and material selections, to effectively communicate design ideas.
- Technical Development & Implementation:
- Utilize Photoshop, CAD, or other landscape-specific software to assist in creating detailed design drawings and documentation (layout and planting plans) for landscape renovations.
- Support the development of preliminary cost estimates and assist with material sourcing while maintaining organized project files and documentation.
- Cross-collaborate with our Account Managers and Production Team to ensure the accurate implementation of design intent. Assist the Landscape Designers with various design-related tasks as needed.
- Seasonal Flower Program Coordination
- Design & Estimating: Develop innovative flower combination designs for each season, including bedded annuals and container arrangements. Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials and installation.
- Ordering: Collaborate with the Director of Landscape Programs to source and procure seasonal plant materials.
- Scheduling: Develop seasonal installation schedules that coordinate with internal crews to meet client timelines.
- Vendor Coordination: Communicate with growers and suppliers to confirm availability, delivery schedules, and quality standards for plant materials and supplies.
- Monitor the ongoing performance of the flower bed and recommend adjustments or replacements as needed throughout the season.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.
- 1 - 3+ years of professional experience in horticulture or landscape design and/ or a strong portfolio of relevant design work.
- Proficiency using Photoshop, CAD, and Microsoft Office software is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with other design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, is a plus.
- Solid understanding of plant materials and horticultural principles.
- Strong knowledge of annuals, perennials, and holiday displays.
- Strong graphic communication and visual presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clearly presenting design concepts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possess a sense of urgency and are accustomed to working under a fast-paced deadline.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 35 lbs or more, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Accustomed to and able to work in all weather conditions
- Able to endure physical tasks for 8 or more hours per day

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
