Title: Junior Packaging Engineer

Reports To: Pkg Development and Design Manager

Junior Packaging Engineer Position Purpose and Objectives
The Jr Pkg Engineer works under general supervision to support the Packaging Development and Design team. This involves a variety of tasks including supervision of customer specific requirements, creation of BOMs, packaging selection, processing control documents, setting deadlines, and monitoring and summarizing progress of each project to meet launch timelines.

Junior Packaging Engineer Essential Job Functions

§ Work with Packaging Engineer to oversee and manage complete package development process, including the creation of packaging BOMs and prototype development.

§ Assist in organizing line trials for customers and vendors for new product validation.

§ Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.

§ Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.

§ Work closely with Operations, Purchasing and Sales to optimize packaging supply base for cost, lead time, quality, supply assurance, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

Junior Packaging Engineer Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

§ Work very closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that all timelines are met and act as the conduit for communication for the NPD team: Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Package Engineering, and Quality departments.

§ Printing and packaging suppliers to maintain artwork, documentation and communicate status updates on project timelines.

§ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

§ Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

§ Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

§ 0-2 years experience

§ Bachelor’s degree in related field

§ Must have experience in industrial or consumer packaging.

§ Excellent communication skills

§ Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

§ SAP or other ERP system knowledge preferred

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
