ABOUT FSHAD CPA

FShad CPA Professional Corporation is a Canadian accounting firm headquartered in the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in corporate taxation, CRA audit representation, and tax services for self-employed individuals and digital content creators. We are a fast-paced, automation-focused firm that runs on standardized digital workflows — and we are building a team that takes that seriously.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is an entry-level position designed for a sharp, disciplined accounting professional who is ready to hit the ground running in Canadian taxation. You will work directly with our principal CPA on a diverse portfolio of personal and small business tax files, with clear expectations around accuracy, process adherence, and turnaround speed.

This is not a role for someone who needs hand-holding on every task. We move fast, we use technology to work smarter, and we expect every team member to follow firm workflows precisely and take ownership of their files.

Please note: this role carries a heavy seasonal workload from January through April. The ability to manage multiple files simultaneously under deadline pressure is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Personal Tax Return Preparation (Primary Focus)

•     Prepare T1 personal income tax returns across a full range of profiles: employment income (T4), investment income (T5, T3), RRSP contributions and deductions, charitable donations, medical expenses, tuition and education credits, and student loan interest

•     Prepare rental income and expense schedules (T776), including CCA calculations and allocation of shared expenses

•     Prepare self-employment income schedules (T2125) including home office deductions, vehicle expense allocations, and capital cost allowance

•     Identify applicable deductions and credits to optimize client tax positions within CRA guidelines

•     Review prior-year returns to ensure year-over-year continuity and flag anomalies before filing

•     Execute all return preparation steps in strict accordance with firm workflow checklists and quality control procedures

Bookkeeping & Compliance

•     Maintain client bookkeeping on a monthly or quarterly basis using QuickBooks Online/Desktop and internal spreadsheet-based tools

•     Reconcile bank and credit card statements; categorize transactions in accordance with CRA-accepted accounting methods

•     Prepare and file HST/GST returns including Quick Method elections where applicable

•     Assist with payroll remittance tracking and T4/T4A slip preparation

Research, Memos & File Management

•     Draft concise tax memos summarizing technical positions on deductibility, income characterization, or filing obligations

•     Research Canadian tax issues using the Income Tax Act, CRA interpretation bulletins, income tax folios, and technical news

•     Prepare and organize client correspondence, engagement documentation, and CRA notice responses

•     Maintain organized, complete digital client files in accordance with firm standards — every time, without exception

Workflow & Automation Adherence

•     Follow all firm-prescribed workflow automations, checklists, and process documentation without deviation

•     Flag process gaps or errors through proper channels rather than improvising workarounds

•     Adapt quickly to new tools, software updates, and evolving firm systems as the practice grows

•     Maintain detailed task logs and status updates so file progress is always visible and handoff-ready

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

•     CA or ACCA designation (completed or in progress — finalist candidates will be considered)

•     Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, CRA filing requirements, and general GAAP principles

•     Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formula-based bookkeeping, structured data entry, and financial schedules

•     Strong written and spoken English — client-facing correspondence and internal documentation are core to this role

•     Exceptional attention to detail — errors in tax filings have real consequences and we take accuracy seriously

•     Proven ability to follow structured processes and checklists with discipline and consistency

•     Ability to learn new tools and workflows quickly without repeated instruction

•     Self-directed work ethic with strong time management under seasonal deadline pressure

Preferred

•     Prior experience at a Canadian CPA firm, tax boutique, or public accounting practice

•     Hands-on experience preparing T1 returns using Canadian tax software (TaxCycle, Profile, or DT Tax)

•     Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or Desktop

•     Exposure to CRA My Business Account, Represent a Client portal, or handling CRA correspondence

•     Understanding of HST/GST filing obligations for small businesses and self-employed individuals

•     Experience working within structured digital workflows or task management systems

WHAT WE OFFER

•     Structured onboarding and direct mentorship from a CPA with CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Certificate

•     Exposure to a wide range of Canadian tax matters — personal, rental, self-employed, corporate, and HST

•     Front-row experience in an automation-forward firm where you will develop skills most traditional accounting roles don't offer

•     A clear path for professional growth and increasing responsibility as the firm scales

•     Stable, long-term employment with genuine investment in your development
