Junior Technical Animator

Overview: Rouge Studios is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Technical Animator to join our team! The ideal candidate has experience working within the constraints of real-time engines, shows attention to detail, and can take both artistic and technical direction to achieve the best solution. A level of technical knowledge combined with strong creative and visual instincts is critical for this position.


Responsibilities


  • Support a high-quality in-house animation team through pipeline maintenance, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Adapt quickly to new tools, orders of operations, and user interface paradigms, and be able to quickly educate others.
  • Work closely with the Animation Leads, Supervisors, and Producers to determine internal and client needs, optimize pipelines, and identify areas of improvement on technical and character rigging workflows.
  • Write high-quality, well-formatted documentation for animators and other technical artists to easily reference.

  • Assist in the assembly and maintenance of Unreal Sequencer assets.
  • Integrate high quality assets and animations into real-time game engine workflows.
  • Assist in the development of efficient, high quality assets for implementation into various gaming, television, and AR/VR platforms.
  • Work with our internal character art team to build animation-ready assets for use by both our in-house animation team and for clients.
  • Research, develop, and maintain new tools and systems to optimize animation workflows based on individual client needs.
  • Collaborate with internal and client technical artist teams to build features and solve creative technical problems.


Requirements:


  • Strong animation experience, preferably in motion capture.
  • Experience with Python for Maya and Unreal.
  • Experience with rigging systems such as Metahumans and mGear.
  • Familiarity with content creation and game development pipelines.
  • Extensive experience with real-time game engines and motion capture data.
  • Must be flexible in shifting responsibilities based on varying client needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and execute a broad range of optimization tasks including quality control, modifying assets, and programming batchable processes.
  • Be self-motivated, quick thinking, and proactive with the ability to quickly pivot from one task to the next.


Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 / year. Onsite. Full time contracted position. Range depends on experience, education, and qualifications.
