Junior Video Editor

About Kifaru

Kifaru designs and builds high-performance, American-made packs and gear engineered for comfort, modularity, and durability in the most demanding backcountry conditions. Our focus is on equipping serious hunters, adventurers, and outdoor enthusiasts. We produce daily video content that documents real hunts, gear performance in the field, and backcountry experiences—content featured on our YouTube channel (@Kifarutube), including cinematic hunt films, product breakdowns, and practical gear demonstrations. As we expand our media team, we are seeking a dedicated junior editor to help maintain our consistent output and high standards.

Position Overview

This role involves working directly with our senior video editor to process and edit raw footage from hunts, field tests, and gear shoots. The primary objective is to support daily video posting by handling foundational editing tasks, allowing the senior editor to focus on advanced finishing work. You will contribute to videos that reflect our established style: clean, purposeful storytelling with strong pacing, authentic field footage, and an emphasis on performance in rugged environments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare raw footage, audio, and assets for efficient editing.
  • Execute basic assembly: precise cuts, logical sequencing, smooth transitions, text overlays, and appropriate music integration.
  • Deliver completed rough edits or sections to the senior editor for color grading, final adjustments, and polish.
  • Maintain alignment with Kifaru's visual and narrative standards—practical, engaging, and true to the outdoor hunting and backcountry experience.
  • Assist in exporting and formatting videos for YouTube and other platforms to meet daily production schedules.
  • Participate in review sessions to refine work and develop skills under direct mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve (we provide a license as needed).
  • Solid understanding of core editing principles, including timing, cuts, transitions, basic audio balancing, and text/graphics placement.
  • An appreciation for outdoor and hunting content aesthetics—videos that prioritize authenticity, field realism, and effective storytelling over excessive effects.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to incorporate feedback effectively.
  • Professional demeanor with a genuine interest in learning professional workflows and contributing to high-quality, real-world content.

Prior editing experience from personal projects, school, or freelance work is preferred, though we are open to motivated candidates with strong fundamentals.

Application Requirements

  • Current resume detailing relevant experience or education.
  • Link to an online portfolio or reel (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) showcasing sample edits. Outdoor or adventure-related work is a plus but not required.

What This Role Offers

  • Competitive paid compensation with the potential for increased hours based on performance and fit.
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced senior editor who has developed and grown our YouTube channel.
  • Opportunity to work on published content viewed by a dedicated community of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Hands-on experience in a professional, high-volume video production environment focused on premium outdoor storytelling.
  • Potential for long-term growth within an expanding media team.
  • Remote work supported, with in-person options available in Riverton, Wyoming.

If you are committed to producing meaningful outdoor content and eager to develop your skills in a professional setting aligned with Kifaru's mission, we encourage you to apply.
