Justice Systems Coordinator

This position requires management of confidential information and is responsible for collecting and analyzing data from criminal justice agencies for the purpose of identifying and researching policy and programmatic changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal justice system. Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates programs within the criminal justice system in order to promote a range of options for use in evidence-based decisions. Provides logistical and staff support to the Jackson County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Maintains communication and ongoing proactive working relationships with stakeholders in the community and Criminal Justice Coordinating Council partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates all aspects of Jackson County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council(Council)
  • Performs administrative duties necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the Council; to include but not limited to; assist with development and posting of agendas, meeting minutes, and correspondence
  • Helps establish the Council's annual goals
  • Works collaboratively with the Council and partners to coordinate development of a strategic work plan, policies, and procedures that are updated periodically, consistent with the Council's mission, goals, and evidence-based practices
  • Monitors the Council's work plans and provides progress reports to the Council
  • Independently researches, analyzes, and provides information to the Council regarding programs which are evidence-based and which may enhance the justice system
  • Obtains and analyzes data and information on existing criminal justice programs
  • Prepares operational and statistical reports to support recommendations
  • Develops and establishes direction for evidence-based strategies across the criminal justice system
  • Researches, prioritizes, and writes grant proposals which are in alignment with the goals of the Counciland subject to the approval of the Jackson County Board
  • Monitors, tracks and collects all data for fiscal and programmatic reporting required forthe Council's grants
  • Prepares and files reports with grant authority
  • Develops and maintains all record keeping systems for the Council
  • Acts as professional liaison to represent the Council to the general public and community members
  • Attends conference and training opportunities for development of evidence-based programming
  • Serves as a resource to collaborating agencies: initiates meetings; plans and implements services for individuals involved in the justice system
  • Promotes and facilitates consumer and stakeholder involvement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in criminal justice or related field from an accredited school, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the criminal justice system involving law enforcement, mental health, AODA, human services, and/or education fields; which includes 3 years' experience working with external resources and ancillary services, preferred
  • Experience in research, preparation and administration of grants, preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB

  • Knowledge of related industry, organization and departmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of best practices, ordinances and laws as they relate to the position
  • Knowledge of criminal justice system and its procedures sufficient to understand the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders
  • Knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way in which these problems affect individuals and families
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Ho-Chunk Nation's governmental structure, justice system, customs, traditions and lifeways
  • Knowledge and ability to use a personal computer and software programs including Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to learn specialized equipment and testing systems related to business need
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and ability to handle money and work accurately with figures
  • Knowledge and use of office concepts and procedures including general business and office functions, reading comprehension, typing and keyboarding
  • Skills in creating and maintaining related documentation, files, records, and reports
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public
  • Effective communication skills; be polite, courteous and professional in manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively via oral, written, and electronic correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others – observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources via contact with supervisors, fellow workers and subordinates, the public, government and other external sources
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships – developing constructive and cooperative working relations among the county and the public
  • Ability to be organized and self-motivating; prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines

Life Insurance: County paid for employee equal to yearly salary. Additional coverage and coverage for spouse and dependents are available at additional cost.

Deferred Compensation Plans: Two plans are available.

Voluntary Accident/Cancer/Critical Illness Insurance: Employer will contribute $10 per month towards the plan.

ID Protection

State Retirement: Employer match 50%

PTO: General Employees: 22 days during years 1 & 2 to a maximum of 37 days
Managers: 27 days per year during 1st – 6th years of service; to a maximum of 37 days
Jail/Dispatch: 24 days during years 1-5 to a maximum of 37 days

Holidays: Non-Law Enforcement: 9 specific and 1 floating
Law Enforcement: 10 personal days in lieu of holidays
