Job Description Summary
Part time Food Service Personnel work independently to prepare meals for both the residents and staff within our secure detention facility. They are responsible for meal preparation of dinners every day and both lunches and dinners on Saturday and Sunday.

Essential Functions
• Prepare quality meals for residents and employees in accordance with ISBE state nutritional and portion guidelines.
  • Prepare and complete written documentation of food provided and maintain records of food temperatures and food storage areas.
  • Meet or exceed sanitation standards and guidelines by performing custodial duties in and around the kitchen prior to and following each meal.
  • Ensure the security of the facility and the safety of its staff and residents by adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and track inventory of kitchen supplies, equipment, and food products.

Competencies
Operate a variety of food service equipment, including stoves, ovens, mixers, and utensils.
Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
This role requires work performed in and around a juvenile detention facility; subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. Employees will be subject to extreme temperature environments and materials.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position – approximately 20 hours per week
Shifts may be 2pm-6pm on weekdays; 10am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays

Required Education and Experience
21 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license

Preferred Education and Experience
Prior food service experience
Food Handler’s License and Certification
CPR/First Aid
