Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of youth? The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Parole and Probation Officer (JPPO) to provide supervision and case management services to youth in our care. In this role, you’ll use developmental and cognitive behavioral models to assess risk/needs, develop case plans, and coordinate treatment and placement services tailored to each youth’s individual and cultural needs.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Working with local juvenile department staff and partner agencies to serve delinquent youth that require out-of-home placement.
Potentially participating in local resource/placement meetings to work with youth who may require out-of-home placement. Depending on local agreement, staff may refer youth or assist the local juvenile department with accessing programs and services that best match the youth’s risk level and treatment needs.
Assisting with transition of the case to OYA including: scheduling initial placement screening interviews, transportation and court appearances. Prepares all necessary paperwork if youth is accepted for placement
Serving as the primary caseworker for all OYA and Department of Corrections (DOC) youth in OYA physical custody once they are assigned to the JPPO’s caseload.
With a focus on accountability and fostering positive behavior change, you’ll collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including families, community partners, and educational providers. By employing Positive Human Development (PHD) principles and the Developmental Approach to Parole and Probation (DAPP), you’ll play a key role in helping youth build a foundation for success while maintaining vital community connections.

Location: The office is located in Klamath County in Klamath Falls, Oregon however your case loads may be located at other counties based on business needs.

The salary range listed is the non-
PERS
participating rate. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6%. Please review the

What You Need to Qualify:
A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, the Behavioral Sciences or a related degree; and two years experience guiding or counseling troubled, criminal offender or socially maladjusted clients in a social service or criminal justice setting.
Three years of additional experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Experience working with diverse youth populations and commitment to current DEI practices
