Job Title: Preschool Teacher (3-Year-Old Class)
Reports To: Center Director
Position Overview:
The Preschool Teacher for the 3-year-old class is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. The teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that foster curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while supporting each child’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement daily lesson plans that support the developmental milestones of 3-year-old children in alignment with the center’s curriculum and state guidelines.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, play-based learning, and social interaction.
- Maintain classroom routines and establish clear expectations that promote independence and self-regulation.
- Observe and assess children’s development; document progress and communicate with families about milestones, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Foster strong partnerships with parents through regular communication, conferences, and updates.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and safety in accordance with licensing and health standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and center events as required.
Qualifications (per DHR Minimum Standards):
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or willingness to obtain.
- At least 1 year of experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably 3-year-olds.
- Completion of 11 hours of Health & Safety training as required by state childcare regulations.
- Completion of 12 additional hours of annual professional development training.
- Three (3) verifiable references.
- Current TB test and medical report on file.
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be kept current).
- Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $11.00 per hour
