Position begins August 2026
The K–5 Elementary Teacher is responsible for building foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills in young learners. This role emphasizes creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports whole-child development and academic growth.
Administrative Responsibilities

Fulfill all assigned supervision and service duties

Take attendance within 5 minutes of the start of the school day/class period

Communicate school announcements and expectations clearly to students
-
Escort and supervise students during transitions, assemblies, lunch, and recess
-
Maintain accurate records (attendance, grades, seating charts)
-
Enter assignments and grades into PowerSchool weekly
Instructional Responsibilities

Plan and deliver daily standards-aligned lessons in literacy, math, science, and social studies

Create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences
-
Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs
-
Build foundational reading, writing, and math skills
-
Integrate hands-on learning, small groups, and guided instruction
-
Maintain an organized, print-rich, and student-centered classroom
-
Use classroom routines and procedures to maximize instructional time
-
Develop and administer assessments to monitor student growth
Student Assessment & Family Communication

Monitor and assess student progress regularly
-
Provide timely progress reports and report cards
-
Maintain consistent communication with families
-
Conduct parent-teacher conferences
-
Proactively contact families of students needing academic or behavioral support
Enrichment & Student Support
-
Provide tutoring or additional support before/after school as needed

Incorporate technology and interactive tools to support learning

Plan field trips and enrichment opportunities
-
Support students’ social-emotional growth and positive behavior development
Professional Responsibilities

Maintain professional appearance and conduct

Follow all school policies and procedures

Attend all required meetings and professional development sessions

Participate in school events (Open House, conferences, family engagement events)

Collaborate with grade-level teams and support staff

Support school-wide initiatives and culture
Requirements:
Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (required)
-
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary endorsement
-
Experience teaching in early childhood or elementary settings preferred
-
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
