Job Summary

Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive art lesson plans that incorporate various mediums, techniques, and cultural perspectives, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
- Foster a stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking among students of all skill levels.
- Utilize learning management systems (LMS) and other learning technology tools to deliver lessons, track progress, and facilitate student engagement.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and proactive behavior management strategies.
- Assess student artwork regularly through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support ongoing improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, school events, and curriculum development initiatives to enhance the overall arts program.
- Support students with special needs or those with autism by adapting teaching methods and providing individualized attention as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, assessments, and progress reports in accordance with school policies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of art curriculum development, classroom management, and childhood development principles.
- Proficiency in using LMS platforms and integrating learning technology into daily instruction.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues in meaningful dialogue about student progress.
- Experience in teaching literacy education, math integration within art projects, and standardized testing preparation related to arts education.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that incorporate creative writing techniques alongside visual arts activities.
- Skilled in tutoring students individually or in small groups to reinforce artistic skills or academic concepts such as literacy or math.
- Familiarity with special education practices, behavior management strategies, Montessori methods, early childhood education approaches, and preschool experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience working with children of diverse backgrounds, including those requiring additional support or childcare services.
