POSITION: K - 8 Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal

SUMMARY: To provide students with a daily and ongoing instructional program in all core subject areas, integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts across the curriculum. To help students develop academic knowledge and skills, as well as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills needed to provide a strong foundation for continued education.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare engaging lessons that integrate STEM concepts across reading, writing, mathematics, science, and other core content areas.
  • Design instruction with an appropriate level of difficulty that presents content in a logical and sequential manner.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including project-based learning, inquiry-based instruction, hands-on investigations, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations in accordance with district schedules and policies.
  • Identify student learning needs and provide instruction appropriate to individual students and groups.
  • Analyze and interpret student data to guide instruction and modify learning activities.
  • Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Implement Idaho Core Standards in mathematics, science, English language arts, and other content areas through lesson planning, instruction, and assessment.
  • Integrate real-world problem-solving opportunities and STEM applications into daily instruction.
  • Develop and administer a variety of assessments including written assignments, performance tasks, and projects that measure analytical thinking, inquiry, and application of knowledge.
  • Prepare students academically for district, state, and federal assessments.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of subject matter across all core disciplines.
  • Effectively manage instructional time to maximize learning opportunities, including collaborative and hands-on activities.
  • Establish and communicate clear classroom expectations and procedures, including safe use of materials and technology.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.
  • Promote language development and academic vocabulary through discussion, questioning, and student interaction.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside the instructional day under reasonable conditions.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with federal and state law, district policies, and administrative procedures.
  • Input and manage student data in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and administrators to support instructional goals, curriculum development, and STEM integration.
  • Take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Demonstrate methods and procedures to students, including use of instructional technology and problem-solving processes
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules
  • Assume responsibility for continuing professional growth and development in integrated STEM instructional practices
  • Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education
  • Seek assistance should emergencies arise
  • Represent the school district in a positive manner
  • Know and follow school district policy and chain of command
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

Education And/Or Experience

  • Current Idaho Teacher Certification with All Subjects K-8 endorsement
  • Highly Qualified Teacher per the standards set forth by the Nampa School District
  • Bachelors degree required in area of major study
  • Teaching or student teaching at appropriate grade level
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management
  • Strong background in behavior management, curriculum, and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong background in federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy pertaining to special education
  • Knowledge of the diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices
  • The ability to work with students with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities
  • Ability to instruct students one-on-one and small group situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods
  • Strong background in curriculum and the Idaho Core Standards
  • Strong background in the integration of technology and STEM with instruction
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Works well with students, staff, and the public
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work under deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students

Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing (Microsoft Office), spreadsheets (Excel), database (Access), presentation software.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and meets deadlines with severe time constraints in a fast paced environment on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit; occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds and push and pull up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision; very good depth perception; and the ability to communicate through speech.
