This role specifically requires billing knowledge within the Kansas Medicaid waiver environment and the MCO structure.

Applicants will complete a pre-screen knowledge assessment and a technical evaluation prior to offer. This is not an entry-level billing position.

Position Overview

Thrive Therapy is seeking a highly experienced KS Medicaid HCBS Billing Specialist who can manage billing, corrections, and payer communication across Kansas Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).

This role requires someone who understands the operational impact of billing accuracy and can proactively resolve claim issues — not someone learning the process.

Required Experience (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

You must have 2+ years of direct experience with:

• Kansas Medicaid HCBS billing
• Kansas Medicaid waiver services
• EVV-based billing environments
• Understanding billable units vs visits
• Claim corrections and reprocessing
• Payment posting and reconciliation
• Denial resolution

You must be proficient navigating:

• Sunflower Health Plan portal
• United Healthcare Community Plan (UHC) portal
• Healthy Blue Kansas portal

You must understand:

• How to work claims with MCO representatives
• Proper escalation pathways
• How to identify and fix authorization mismatches
• How billing impacts service delivery and compliance

Key Responsibilities

• Submit and manage Kansas Medicaid HCBS claims
• Correct denials and resubmissions
• Work directly with Sunflower, UHC, and Healthy Blue
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies
• Track payment variances
• Coordinate with internal operations teams
• Maintain compliance and documentation standards

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $28-$32/hour + bonus plan
