The YSB has a full-time position open providing services to at-risk youth, grades 6-12, and to all Jay County youth who may not feel safe in their home. Applicant must possess a high school diploma. Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or other directly related human service field is preferred. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant should be passionate about giving back to the community, have the ability to effectively tutor middle school/high school age youth, and be able to maintain a flexible work schedule. EOE.
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation and paperwork for youth and families enrolled in KARSS Program. Including Intake, Discharge, Follow-up, Plan for Service, Consent for Release of Confidential Information, Transportation consents, Quarterly Reports, Evaluations, etc., as directed by immediate supervisor, and meeting accreditation criteria.
- Maintain appointments with youth daily or as often as schedule will permit. Meet with the family as needed, but at least monthly, with appointments set up one week in advance.
- Organize, schedule, transport to and from, and assist youth with community service activity. Introduce youth to and help them to connect with positive members of the community.
- Provide youth with academic assistance through tutoring and helping them with homework, as needed, to insure improved academic success.
- Coordinate services for youth and family in program including being a liaison for courts, probation, and schools. Attend expulsion hearings and/or court hearings of the youth to provide testimony, recommendations, and participation summaries as requested.
- Consult with the school of record, on a regular basis and additionally as necessitated.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain and participate in the completion of necessary statistics to evaluate the KARSS Program.
- Enter KARSS data into the IYSA database daily and provide all required reports to IYSA in a timely manner
- Responsible for all Safe Place Program activities, including data entry, presentations, and responding to Safe Place calls.
- Responsible for maintaining and recruiting safe place sites throughout the county
- Present Safe Place trainings to proposed/interested sites
- Conduct Safe Place presentations in schools to students
- Be available 24/7 for safe place calls or insure a back-up person is in place
