Kennel Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to provide a safe and nurturing environment for pets. This role involves handling various breeds of dogs, ensuring their well-being, and assisting with daily operations in the kennel.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs.
• Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to staff.
• Assist in administering medications
• Support dog training sessions and reinforce positive behaviors.
• Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets and address any questions or concerns.
• Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques when necessary.
• Assist with heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, and animals as needed.

Requirements

• Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred but not a requirement (kennel experience is a plus).
• Familiarity with dog training techniques and veterinary practices is beneficial.
• Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with animal care.
• Experience in pet grooming, pet sitting, or veterinary assistant roles is advantageous.
• A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
