Kiosk Attendant/Cashier - Hagan Park

The Cordova Recreation & Park District is seeking friendly candidates to provide excellent customer service to our patrons at the Hagan Community Park.

This is a seasonal, part-time position from May 1st through September 30th with varying assigned days and hours.
Incumbents will work outdoors in the heat.

Typical Schedule:
Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays; 7:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. or 12:30-5:30 p.m.

Summary Description
Under general direction of the Recreation Supervisor II, monitors vehicle entry and collection of park entry fees while interacting in a friendly and courteous manner with the public; and performs other administrative tasks in support of park visitors and staff.

Established in 1958, Cordova Recreation & Park District is an independent special district governed by an elected Board of Directors.

We provide quality recreational programs, parks and services for our diverse and growing region. We currently operate over 50 parks and facilities across more than 600 acres of urban and open space. We also operate Cordova Golf Course which is a full-service 18-Hole course with a lighted driving range, pro-shop and lessons from PGA professionals. We host dozens of events throughout the year and provide athletic, educational and creative outlets for children and adults of all ages.

Essential Functions

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
  • Collect admission fees in the form of cash and credit cards using provided point of sale (POS) software on a computer tablet; provide accurate change as necessary; issue receipt.
  • Print reports from provided computer to close cash daily and reconcile.
  • Greet visitors; maintain a calm and professional demeanor when addressing patrons and co-workers.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate program and other records as needed.
  • Act as department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs and facility operations.
  • Cross train with Cordova Community Pool cashiers and White Rock Splash Park attendants for potential additional hours.
  • Attend all trainings when provided.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Cash handling and money counting procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Park rules and regulations.
Ability to:
  • Process all transactions using computer tablet with software provided.
  • Handle money.
  • Use strong customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact during the conduct of activities.
  • Work independently and as a team (once trained).
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and efficient area for all staff.
  • Make frequent decisions and maintain concentration with distractions.
  • Remain calm under pressure.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Education and Experience Guidelines
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read, write perform basic math at a level necessary for successful job performance.
License or Certificate:
Certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED are required.
Additional Requirements:
Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation background checks.
A clear tuberculosis screening is required.
