Kitchen Designer / Customer Service

Builders Surplus is looking for a creative, customer-focused Kitchen Designer to join our team. As a Kitchen Designer, you will primarily work directly with customers to design custom kitchen layouts. In addition to Kitchen Design, you will be responsible for selling doors, windows and other building materials sold at the retail store level.

Job Summary

Meet with customers to understand their kitchen design needs, preferences, and budget. Offer expert advice on design, layout, materials, and finishes to create functional and aesthetic kitchen spaces. Build strong relationships with clients to ensure a smooth, positive design experience. Use design software (2020 or similar) to create custom kitchen layouts and designs. Develop floor plans, 3D renderings, and product specifications tailored to the customer’s requirements. Collaborate with customers to make design revisions and ensure satisfaction with the final product.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 year of customer service or sales experience in the home improvement, furniture, or kitchen industry

Preferred, Not Required

• 1 year of prior experience in kitchen design, interior design, or a related field
• 1 year of experience with design software (2020 is preferred)

Skills

• Strong creative and design skills with a keen eye for detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Basic understanding of kitchen cabinets and materials

Education

High School Diploma

Continued education or training in design software is not required, but preferred
