Job Summary:

The Steward is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the restaurant’s kitchen, service, and dining areas. The role ensures that all cleaning, dishwashing, and waste management tasks are carried out efficiently to support smooth restaurant operations and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the kitchen, back-of-house, and dining areas at all times.
  • Handle dishwashing and ensure that clean items are properly stored and readily available for use.
  • Dispose of waste and garbage properly in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
  • Assist in receiving and storing supplies in designated areas.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures as per company and regulatory standards.
  • Support kitchen and service teams with cleaning and setup duties as required.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure that cleaning materials and chemicals are used safely and stored properly.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and grooming standards at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry moderate weights.
  • Comfortable working in a hot and humid environment (kitchen area).
