Korean Audio Transcription Specialist

Korean Audio Transcription Specialist (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your ear for Korean could directly shape how AI understands spoken language for over 80 million Korean speakers worldwide? We're looking for Korean Audio Transcription Specialists in the New York metro area to listen to Korean audio recordings and produce accurate, detailed transcriptions that train the next generation of AI speech and language systems.

New York is home to one of the largest Korean-speaking communities in the United States, with deep roots in Flushing, Fort Lee, and across the tri-state area. Whether you're a heritage speaker, a Korean studies graduate, or a bilingual professional, your Korean listening skills can make a real difference in how AI technology serves Korean speakers everywhere.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI or tech background needed — just native-level Korean listening skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to transcribe what you hear with precision.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Listen to Korean audio clips — including conversations, monologues, interviews, and other spoken content
  • Transcribe spoken Korean accurately, capturing words, phrases, and nuances as spoken
  • Apply transcription guidelines consistently, including notation for speaker turns, pauses, fillers, and non-speech sounds
  • Identify and flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments with appropriate annotations
  • Handle a variety of accents, dialects, speaking speeds, and recording conditions
  • Maintain high accuracy and consistency across large volumes of audio tasks
  • Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Native or near-native fluency in Korean with excellent listening comprehension
  • Strong command of written Korean, including proper spelling, spacing, and punctuation
  • Naturally detail-oriented with a consistent, methodical approach to work
  • Able to distinguish between similar-sounding words, dialectal variations, and colloquial speech
  • Comfortable working with audio playback tools and web-based platforms
  • Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
  • No prior AI, transcription, or tech experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience in transcription, subtitling, captioning, or related audio-text work
  • Familiarity with Korean regional dialects and informal speech patterns
  • Background in linguistics, Korean language studies, media, or communications
  • Experience with AI tools, annotation platforms, or language evaluation workflows
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Directly contribute to improving how AI understands and processes spoken Korean
  • Build skills at the intersection of language and AI technology
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
