Korean Language Instructor

■ Job Overview King Sejong Institute San Francisco and the Korean Center, Inc. (KCI) are seeking passionate and energetic Korean Language Instructors to inspire learners of all ages—both adults and children—to develop their language skills. In this role, you will deliver engaging lessons tailored to the specific age group and proficiency levels. This paid position offers a meaningful opportunity to expand your teaching expertise and potentially participate in various educational programs hosted by KCI.

■ Job Details & Schedule

  • Target Audience: Adult Learners or Youth Learners (Ages 4–10, grouped by age level : Preference can be specified upon application)
  • Class Format: Hybrid (Both In-person and Online/Zoom positions available)
  • Class Hours: (To be assigned based on schedule coordination)
  • Youth Classes: [Online] 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM / 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM or [In-person] 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Adult Classes: [Online/In-person] 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM or 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Curriculum: King Sejong Institute textbooks for adult classes (Tailored age-appropriate materials for youth classes)

■ Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and structured Korean language lessons tailored to adult or youth proficiency levels.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively in both in-person and online educational settings.
  • [Additional Opportunity] Depending on your teaching experience and qualifications, you may also conduct Private Tutoring Sessions (for adults or youth) managed by KCI.
  • [Plus Factor] Ability to conduct Korean Culture Classes or cultural workshops (e.g., traditional crafts, games) is highly desirable.

■ Requirements

  • [For Adult Classes] Must hold a Korean Language Teacher Certificate, a certificate of completion from a Korean Language Teacher Training Program, or a National Korean Language Teacher License certified by the National Institute of Korean Language.
  • [General Requirement] Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (Permanent Resident, U.S. Citizen, or valid work authorization visa).
  • Proven experience in teaching Korean as a foreign/second language or related classroom management roles.
  • Proficiency in managing classroom dynamics for the specified age group (understanding child behavior for youth classes, or adult education principles).
  • Ability to teach both in-person and via online platforms like Zoom.
  • Passion for cultural exchange, language education, and promoting Korean heritage.
